The Reason It Matters That Google “Accidentally” Translated ‘Russian Federation’ to ‘Mordor’

“He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past.”
— George Orwell

(Truthstream Media) You may not have seen this back in January when it happened, as it wasn’t really big news… but it caught my eye due to the implications.

For who knows how long, it came to light that Ukranians who typed “Russian Federation” into Google were getting translations into the Russian word for “Mordor,” the name of the fictional volcanic wasteland the evil Sauron chose as his fortress in J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

And that’s not all…mordorvk-russia-to-ukraine

According to CBC News:

Google Translate’s Ukrainian to Russian tool switched Russians with “occupiers,” and the name of Russia’s foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, with “sad little horse.”

CBC News went on to report, “Mordor is not an accurate translation for Russia…”

Google told the BBC that Google Translate functions by analysing patterns in online text, but can’t discern for context.

“This means that not all translations are perfect, and there will sometimes be mistakes or mistranslations,” Google said in a statement to the BBC.

So when Ukrainians began to use similar language to describe Russia following its 2014 annexation of the Crimean peninsula, Google Translate picked up these errors automatically.

That’s the story, anyway. It happened automatically due to an “automated error” Google ultimately blamed on the Ukranians themselves.

Seems like an awfully politically slanted automated error, one that affected everyone hive-mind style.

Consider the fact that most people get their information from places like Google and Facebook these days. Consider that the information is constantly being edited, censored, and some of it memory holed every second. More and more children are growing up and at younger and younger ages with smart phones and tablets in their hands to receive this information. More and more, what they learn and know about this reality is manipulated under the control of a tiny handful of technocrats and their megatech companies pulling the digital strings.

Did you know that Google recently restructured and officially changed its name to Alphabet?

Think about that for a moment… alphabet.

And they are controlling the information.

They are shaping, slanting, molding, changing the entire concept of “reality” more and more every single moment of it. What people say, what they think, both online and off. As this continues, as we give more and more control over to the virtual (and thoroughly edited) version of the reality they’ve put in place, more power to the Matrix, our reality becomes increasingly fragile. We are fed more and more misleading, edited, shifty information, much of it more aptly disinformation, while dissenting opinions or critical thoughts which might question that system are shutdown and sanitized so agendas can be fulfilled.

This matrix it’s all some people know… and all they will know is, and will continue to be, ever more tightly controlled.

It’s Bernays’ Propaganda:

The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society.

…but for the digital age.

And that information is about to get “virtual”.

zuckerbergallegoryThat Tweet just about sums it up.

Just consider what that “reality” will look like once Facebook gets these virtual reality blinders on everyone.

We are the Borg… you will be assimilated!
