I decided to write this to give a more fair and wider view than the mainstream media has regarding the entire conflict in Gaza between Hamas and the IDF (Israel Defense Forces), but before I begin: I am not an anti-Semite, I personally condemn any and all violence, I am not a liberal and do not pick any sides based on ANY religious views whatsoever.
In the latest tension between Israelis and Palestinians, the mainstream media has reported that Israel has launched an attack on Gaza (Operation Protective Edge) allegedly in a response to the kidnapping of and death of three Israelis and the firing of rockets into Israel from the Gaza strip.
I will now explore and dispel most of the myths being thrown around by the Media and keyboard commandos on Facebook along with some widely unknown facts and history.
Myth #1: Hamas is Responsible for the Kidnapping of the 3 Israelis.
Immediately blaming Hamas, Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu claimed “Hamas is responsible, and Hamas will pay.” Hamas immediately denied any involvement in the kidnapping and it has recently come out that the killers acted as a “lone cell”.
Nymag.com wrote: Repeated inconsistencies in Israeli descriptions of the situation have sparked debate over whether Israel wanted to provoke Hamas into a confrontation. Israeli intelligence is also said to have known that the boys were dead shortly after they disappeared, but to have maintained public optimism about their safe return to beef up support from the Jewish diaspora. Writing for Al Jazeera, Musa al-Gharbi argued that Israel was deliberately provoking Hamas:
All the illegal and immoral actions related to Operation Brother’s Keeper were justified under the premise of finding and saving the missing teens whom the Israeli government knew to be dead — cynically exploiting the tragedy to whip up public outcry in order to provoke and then confront Hamas. This pattern of deception continues under the ongoing military offensive in Gaza. For example, last week in collaboration with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Abbas, in its efforts to alienate Hamas, Israel announced a bad-faith cease-fire proposal, which Hamas was not consulted on and never agreed to but whose violation supposedly justified Israel’s expansion and intensification of the military campaign into Gaza.
On June 5th, Mossad chief Tamir Pardo used a scenario as an example during a security meeting that was eerily similar to the kidnapping of three teens in the West Bank.
Out of strange coincidence, Pardo said during the security meeting regarding prisoner exchangers “What will you do if in a week three 14-year-old girls will be kidnapped from one of the settlements?,”
Myth # 2: “Israel is only defending themselves and are being attacked by rockets, unprovoked”
First things first, it is being claimed by the media that rocket attacks were unprovoked and basically forced Israel to retaliate by bombing populated cities to get Hamas terrorists. This is not entirely true because they are leaving out the fact that Israel has basically blockaded Gaza from every side which highly restricts importation of adequate food, gas, clothing, cars, medication, electricity and most importantly, water. 67% of people in Gaza have little or no access to running water and are forced to buy potable water from an outside source since the water from their aquifer 90-95% undrinkable.
Journalist Rula Jebreal said: “Most Americans think, okay, Israelis are minding their own business and Palestine woke up one day in Gaza and said okay, let me fire missiles…That’s not what’s happening.”
“They don’t know anything about the siege, 1.8 million Palestinians living under siege in extreme poverty, with 90 percent that don’t have access even to water.”
The same conservatives that would call a blockade an act of war in any other instance are completely ignoring the fact that Israel has besieged and blockaded Gaza.
Britannica.com defines a blockade as an act of war.
Being denied access to these basic necessities, Gaza citizens have been digging and using tunnels for years and it wasn’t until recently the tunnels extended only into Egypt and were used mainly to smuggle in consumer goods.
A report from Ifamericansnew.org reports: Israel does not allow new wells to be drilled by Palestinians and has confiscated many wells for Israeli use. Israel sets quotas on how much water can be drawn by Palestinians from existing wells.
According to reports, Gaza relies predominately on wells, 15 of which are broken and can’t be reached because of the threat of bombings. The wells are tainted by salty sea water, sewage, and runoff from agriculture since Israel is over-pumping the groundwater. Scientists estimate that Gaza will have no drinkable water within fifteen years. Also, it is illegal for Israel to expropriate the water of the Occupied Palestinian Territories for use by its own citizens, which it does, according to article 1 section 2 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
I personally don’t defend any rocket attacks, but should we really be surprised that people are getting fed up with being denied access to aid and a system of free trade? These rockets are crude and 90% or the time are shot down by Israel, fall on Gaza itself or just hit the ground. It is now over 600 people that have been killed in Gaza, thousands injured and only a few of them are confirmed Hamas militants. Israel has now killed over ten times more Palestinians just in the past weeks than Hamas rockets have killed Israelis in the last 13 years.
Although I’m not aligned with most of his policies, Ralph Nader explains the situation very well in one of his latest pieces, Pounding Gaza – world’s largest open-air prison.
A video by TruthStreamMedia.com points out the biased propaganda given to us by numerous Media Outlets and also gives the metaphor in the video’s description below:
“If my neighbor next door shoots my neighbor across the street, does that give my neighbor across the street the right to come shoot me?
If someone’s corrupt government does something horrible, are all of its citizens, right down to the infants, to be held responsible? Votes seem to matter very little in the modern world. How would you feel if another country invaded and tried to kill you and everyone you know — all because of what your horrible government does?”
Hamas, Made by Israel
Much like the United States created al Qaeda to counterweight Moscow’s 79 invasion of Afghanistan, the US and Israel helped create and bolster Hamas to counter weight the Fatah led Palestinian Liberation Organization who actually renounced armed resistance at a point pursuant to the Oslo Accords. , Instead of trying to advance towards any chance of peace, Israel enabled and radicalized a counterbalance to the Fatah to further bog down Palestine by fueling Hamas, pinning Palestinians against each other. Israel just so happens to use Hamas’ actions (who they put in place) to invade Gaza as they please to further take Palestinian’s land and resources just as the US does with al Qaeda in any country they suddenly need to step in and invade. An article by Melissa Melton on the Daily Sheeple poses a great question in its title, Are There Any Terrorist Groups Who AREN’T Paid Foot Soldiers for the U.S. Military-Intelligence Agenda?
When you put a wall around someone, and cut off shipments of regular goods that include necessities, a blockade, in my eyes, that is an act of war. I don’t defend blindly defend Hamas’ actions, but know they were brought about by the US and Israel doing whatever they could to ruin Palestine’s chances at keeping a united government.
The original father of Hamas, Sheikh Yassin, had close connections with Israel and was even taken to Israel for hospital treatment that was arranged by former Brig. General Yitzhak Segev who was the Israeli Governor of Gaza back in ’79.
Myth #3: “Hamas uses human shields, giving Israel no choice to Bomb Civilian Targets”
The definition of a human shield by freedictionary.com is: A person who volunteers or is forced to take up a position at a likely military target as a means of forestalling an enemy attack.
Some of the places that were hit include hospitals, mosques, and schools that were full of people seeking safety or simply had nowhere else to go. There is no evidence that people were physically forced to stay anywhere. Even if Hamas hid rockets at these places, it is still a hospital and school full of people nonetheless that have nothing to do with it.
In this image below, there is no credible or presented evidence of any rocket fire or rocket storage at this beach where four Palestinian children were playing football (Soccer), yet they were bombed repeatedly by an Israeli gunboat. How does killing children on a beach contribute to protecting Israelis?
In a legal context, it is in fact the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) who have used Palestinians as human shields. You can see an example of them in the image and video below.
Some of the “evidence” given that Hamas militants are in each building or apartment targeted is nothing different than someone accusing a witch during the Salem witch trials. An example of this is in this report by independent.co.uk that says:
“Are militants also deliberately placing themselves in residences which are then attacked? On the day that Al-Farouq was attacked, the Israeli military also carried out a missile strike on a home for the handicapped in Beit Lahiya, killing two disabled residents and injuring four others. A neighbor claimed that a member of the Islamic Jihad group and his wife had also lived in the building; but he could provide no names or dates for this.
Jamilla Alaiwa, a 59 year old social worker who founded the home 24 years ago told me that this was categorically untrue. “If the Israelis have proof of this let them make it public. There was no one from Islamic Jihad or Hamas living there. We are not involved in politics.” The Israeli military stated they were investigating what happened; their conclusions have not reached Gaza. Were they, perhaps, fed false information?”
Conclusion: Israel, a Zionist State born From Terrorism
Israel condemns the terrorism of others while their very State was created through Zionist terrorism via groups like the Hagana, Irgun and the Lehi (Stern Gang), which bombed and terrorized Palestine back in the 40’s. The Irgun, a paramilitary group of revisionist Zionists, was branded a terrorist group by Britain and believed that any means were necessary to establish a Jewish state of Israel, including terrorism. See also, the King David Hotel bombing.
All in all, they can’t come up with a realistic way to deal with Hamas and it astonishes me that the Israeli leadership thinks they can destroy Hamas by bombing cities. If anything, they’re just creating blowback by doing so…see ISIS, which also has intelligence ties to the United States, the UK and Israel who helped train ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi revealed through recent revelations by Edward Snowden.
With over 118,000 Palestinians displaced, numerous innocent dead including women and children, who are the real aggressors? The time is now to stop funding Israel and giving them weapons.
