Planned Parenthood Condemns Gosnell, Yet Argues for ‘Post-Birth’ Abortions

Planned Parenthood cannot separate itself from the implications of the infamous Gosnell abortion case.

Horror abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell was sentenced to two life terms yesterday for murdering three babies born alive in his disgusting clinic, though he likely murdered thousands over the years.

Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in America, responded on Twitter by failing to even mention these three babies that were delivered alive and subsequently killed:

Notice anything missing here?

Gosnell was convicted for killing babies, not “victimizing women”. It is as if Planned Parenthood does not realize that Gosnell will likely die in prison for infanticide, not domestic violence.

Following Gosnell’s conviction, Planned Parenthood has attempted to distance itself from the Gosnell case with a Daily Beast column “Planned Parenthood on the Real Lessons of the Kermit Gosnell Case” authored by Planned Parenthood CEO Dayle Steinberg and VP of Communications Eric Ferrero. They claim that abortion is one of the safest medical procedures in the country (and the most heavily regulated) and that the Gosnell case is more about following applicable laws than about the act of late-term abortion itself or snuffing out the lives of babies born during botched abortions.

While Planned Parenthood is learning lessons from Gosnell, here are a few things I learned about Planned Parenthood during this trial.

1) CEO Steinberg has said that Gosnell patients would end up at Planned Parenthood clinics in Philadelphia and complain to clinic staff about the horrors of Gosnell. The staff would, in turn, tell their patients to report the disgusting conditions to the Department of Health. Those Planned Parenthood staff members, however, did not report anything to any department ever even though Steinberg admits her organization received multiple complaints about Gosnell.

What have we learned here? To pass the buck?

2) Steinberg and Ferrero claim abortion is not only one of the safest medical procedures performed in this country, but it’s the most heavily regulated. So regulated, in fact, that this Delaware Planned Parenthood is under threat of shutdown after multiple patients and prior staff members — including nurses who quit working there to protect their medical licenses — have complained of its unsafe and unsanitary conditions:

The former nurses claim that a rush to get patients in and out left operating tables soiled and unclean. Werbrich said “It’s not washed down, it’s not even cleaned off. It has bloody drainage on it.” “They could be at risk of getting hepatitis, even AIDS,” added Vasikonis.

The story goes on to note that Delaware does not even perform routine inspections on abortion clinics, basically leaving such clinics including Planned Parenthood locations throughout the state to self-regulate.

I’m sure somewhere in the astounding $542 million our federal government hands over Planned Parenthood each year (equal to 45 percent of its operating budget), Steinberg and Ferrero can spare a few bucks to buy a dictionary and look up what the word “regulate” means.

3) Gosnell was convicted for killing three babies born during his botched abortions. On this case, Steinberg and Ferrero state:

It’s obvious to anyone looking closely at this case that Gosnell ran a criminal enterprise, not a health-care facility. Indeed, Gosnell’s trial showed clearly that his operation was in violation of existing laws and regulations in the state of Pennsylvania.

So Gosnell merely violated laws and late-term abortions aren’t the issue?

Then explain why Planned Parenthood lobbyist Alisa Snow appeared before a committee of Florida lawmakers back in March to argue on behalf of the abortionist for “post-birth abortions“:

Here is a portion of the video’s transcript:

Rep. Jim Boyd: “So, um, it is just really hard for me to even ask you this question because I’m almost in disbelief. If a baby is born on a table as a result of a botched abortion, what would Planned Parenthood want to have happen to that child that is struggling for life?”

Planned Parenthood lobbyist Snow: “We believe that any decision that’s made should be left up to the woman, her family, and the physician.”

Rep. Jose Oliva: “You stated that a baby born alive on a table as a result of a botched abortion that that decision should be left to the doctor and the family. Is that what you’re saying?”

Planned Parenthood lobbyist Snow: “That decision should be between the patient and the health care provider.”

Rep. Jose Oliva: “I think that at that point the patient would be the child struggling on the table, wouldn’t you agree?”

The representatives kept asking Snow to clarify her statements likely because they could not believe she was making them.

We do live in a time where bioethicists publish scholarly articles in medical journals to openly argue that ‘after-birth abortion‘ — which they straight up acknowledge is “killing a newborn” — should be permissible.

These people, including Planned Parenthood lobbyist Snow who spoke on behalf of that organization’s beliefs in commission testimony, are moving the goal post and hoping no one will notice.

By the way, the truly Orwellian concept of ‘post-birth abortion’ or ‘after-birth abortion’ does NOT exist in reality. Unless we change the standard definition of words that have been in the English language for hundreds of years, there simply is no such thing.

Check out #2 under Merriam-Webster’s definition of abortion.

This goes way beyond the pro-life/pro-choice argument of whether or not a fetus is alive (by the way, ‘fetus’ is Latin for ‘offspring’, not ‘cluster of non-living cells in a woman’s body’). If a baby is born during a botched abortion, and that child is struggling for life on the table, it cannot be claimed that baby is anything but a LIVING HUMAN BEING. If that baby is then killed or left to die, in no conceivable way can anyone claim that is still an ‘abortion’ at that point. Pro-choice or not, this is simply not a justifiable argument.

Sorry to inform you Planned Parenthood, but killing a child born alive during a botched abortion is murder, precisely the act Gosnell is going away for committing.
